About the College

Barking and Dagenham College prides itself on being:

  • Friendly
  • Courteous
  • Professional

We have around 12,000 learners studying on vocational or academic programmes. 3,000 study full-time at the college’s main Rush Green campus, between Romford and Dagenham but our Division of Engineering is located at the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) close to Ford’s Dagenham site and our School of Performing Arts is based in the Broadway Theatre, Barking. Most of our full-time students are aged 16-19 but we also have 14-16 year old students as well as adults of all ages.

Our remaining 9,000 learners study part-time – either at Rush Green, CEME, the Barking Learning Centre, our performing arts department at the Broadway Theatre, the Romford I.T. Skills Academy, one of our two “Learning Villages” at Goresbrook and Valence (mainly doing introductory IT courses) or with one of our many community partners operating in church halls, mosques and community centres throughout East London.

Our most recent Ofsted report (May 2007) was very positive, listing the many major strengths of the college and saying our provision was good.

We have been awarded the status of “Centre of Vocational Excellence” (CoVE) in three different programme areas:

  • Care
  • Construction
  • Engineering (Mechanical & Motor Vehicle)

However, all of our programmes are of very high quality. As well as those listed above, these are in:

  • Business & Management
  • Creative & Cultural Industries
  • Foundation Studies
  • Hospitality & Sport
  • Humanities, Languages & Science
  • Information Technology.

Our facilities and staff are among the best in the country. Our commitment is to help you succeed in your learning and future career. We hope to see you soon!
