Enrolment: International and overseas students

An overseas student is defined as any person who has no right of residence within the EU or someone who has not resided within the EU for the previous three years to the relevant date of 1st September, 1st January or 1st April (whichever is closest to the start of the course).

European Union Status

A home student is any person who has a right of residence within the EU and who has resided within the EU for the previous three years to the relevant date of 1st September, 1st January or 1st April (whichever is closest to the start of the course).

This also includes:

Students who have been granted refugee status.

Students who have applied for, or are in the process of applying for, refugee status and have been given means tested benefits.

Any student who is the unwaged dependant of any of the above (under 18 years of age on the 31st August in the year of entry to the college.)

Non European Union Status

People who might have been resident within the EU for the previous three years to the relevant date of 1st September, 1st January or 1st April (whichever is closest to the start of the course), but are not classified as home students:

  • Students who do not have permission to remain in the country
  • Students who do not have a right of residency
  • Students who have not been given Humanitarian Protection
  • Students who have been resident for purposes of study or education on an educational visa
  • Students with non-European Union residential status who have been married for less than one year to a person with three years European Union residential status (please note that married students must also have lived in the EU for one year prior to starting the course).

Students who wish to develop their English speaking skills should submit a completed Postal Application Form and make application for a student visa once they have received an offer of a place on our ESOL course (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for the next session have not yet been fixed but as a guide the fees for the present session are:

Further Education

Full-time - £4,500 per Academic Year*
Part-time - £11 per Course Hour*
*excluding exam/course registration fees

Higher Education

Full-time - £5,950 per Academic Year*
Part-time - £14 per Course Hour*
*excluding exam/course registration fees

Please note the following:

Wherever possible applicants are advised to attend an interview and any student who is planning to visit the UK, can telephone the College to make an appointment to see the tutors and the specific areas of study required. In the case of Art & Design and Photography courses, students should submit transparencies/photographs or examples of their work. Students may submit photocopies of academic qualifications but original documentation must be presented at enrolment.

In the case of all ACCESS, CARING, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, SECRETARIAL, CONSTRUCTION, A’LEVELS and PLUMBING courses both home and international students are required to attend an assessment/interview in person.

  • Mainstream courses commence at the beginning of September (except for Access to Health and Nursing which also has a January intake) and end the following June/July.
  • The College does not have halls of residence and we do not provide accommodation letters for visa purposes. There is a YMCA within walking distance to the college and students are advised to make early reservations to secure accommodation. (Web address: www.romfordymca.org)
  • The College does not arrange visa applications for students. PLEASE NOTE IT IS UNLIKELY THAT STUDENTS WILL BE GRANTED VISAS FOR COURSES UNDER 15 HOURS PER WEEK, i.e., PART-TIME OR EVENING STUDY.
  • The College does not offer financial/sponsorships to overseas students.
  • Non-European Union students are required to submit applications by post.
  • HND applications must be made via UCAS at: www.ucas.com a college application form cannot be accepted.
  • Overseas fees to be paid in full on or before enrolment. (Overseas students must bring their passports with them to enrolment.)
